Together with my dear friend and pianist Jose Alberto del Cerro Cano, I will present my program "Cantar del Alma" to the magnific audience of Valecia. 

With Cantar del alma  invite the audience to rediscover the lyrical soul of the saxophone. Often celebrated for its virtuosity and power, this instrument reveals a different side in my program: pure emotion, delicate melancholy, and heartfelt depth.

Inspired by the great vocal works of Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss, Xavier Montsalvatge, Fernando Obradors, and Enrique Granados, the saxophone transforms into a singing voice, telling timeless stories of passion, longing, and beauty. Cantar del alma is a journey through transcribed masterpieces, showcasing the saxophone’s unparalleled ability to evoke profound emotion and lyrical expression.

Van Merweijk decided to translate his love to the Peninsula into a cycle of 25 poems for soprano saxophone and choir in the 5 largest languages of Iberia. I am now halfway this project called ‘The Iberian Treasure’.

‘Cinc Poemes’ include three poems by Vicent Andrés Estellés and two by Ausiàs March.
Premiere by great saxophonist Carlos Giménez Martinez, who comes from the town of Benimodo, south of València, and this is where the premiere will be, together Universitari de València and its conductor Francesc Valldecabres.

Romeo and Juliet is one of William Shakespeare's most popular works. Its emotional density has always fascinated: fate with its omens that herald a tragic end. The couple's lament, caused by the enmity between the two families and the haste of their decisions. Love as a constant contrast to hate. And death as the only way to maintain a love that is in the way of nothing but obstacles. In his choreography to Sergei Prokofiev's music, Alfonso Palencia approaches the story from a humanistic perspective in order to bring it closer to modern man.

The State Opera and the State Orchestra are offering an extraordinary program for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Under the direction of Christian Thielemann, the orchestra and singers will take you into the fascinating culture of the Weimar period, when everything seemed possible and much was achieved, when the boundaries between art and popular music blurred, when film experienced its first blossoming and theater experienced a new blossoming.
